This is President’s Day, but is it a holiday?
Don’t even ask.
This is one of the worst ‘kinda sorta’ holidays of the year. How’s this for an example? City of San Antonio offices are open today and there will be garbage pickup. But around the corner, the County Courthouse is closed, there is no jury duty, and it is a county holiday.
Don’t look for the mailman and today is a Wall Street holiday, which means many banks will be closed.
When it comes to school, it depends on what side of the street you live on...literally.
The SAISD and Judson, for example, are open today. Northside ISD and North East ISD were supposed to be closed today for a 'teacher development day,' but the districts have decided to stay open to make up for last month's snow day.
Confused yet? Wait...it gets worse.
Some Hill Country school districts, like the Boerne ISD, were supposed to be closed today, but they’re open because this is a make up day for a snow day lost during last month’s cold weather.
Why can’t we have a system where special days are either a holiday for everybody…or for nobody?
We’d tell you more about President’s Day, but we’re too confused. What President are we supposed to be honoring? Who knows.
