A home burglar was shot today when he was confronted by police after cleaning out a home on the city's northwest side, 1200 News reports.
Police say undercover officers had flooded the area around Culebra and Grissom Pass due to a rash of break ins in the area.
An undercover officer saw three men kicking in the door of a home, so they blocked the neighborhood, sealing the only exit from the area.
When the burglars tried to escape, they found the exit blocked by two marked police cars. The driver threw his car into reverse and smashed into an unmarked police car behind him.
At that point, the officers opened fire on the car. The driver was wounded, but managed to drive to the parking lot of a Dollar General store on Culebra, where he was arrested.
The other two suspects were arrested at the scene.
Crime is proving to be a very stupid career move. This guy is the third person in the last five days to be shot while committing a crime.
